To hire or not to hire... a Maid?

Updated: Feb 5, 2020

With parents working in this modern era, who is left to take care of the house?

We at Housemaids.ph are committed to bringing peace of mind to the Filipino family, whether it is through the maids you hire from us, or from the social posts we make to help better inform the Filipino family.

History of Maids in the Filipino Culture

For as long as I remember, we have had help in the house even when my mother was a housewife. Being middle class, almost everyone I knew had hired help, my relatives had theirs and my friends as well. Help was usually a woman, young or old, single or married, with children or without, who has some form of education but usually is not a college graduate, stays in for work or stays out, cleans, cooks, does the laundry, irons the clothes, takes care of children, by herself or with other help, always around, always keeping the house in order almost all days of the month. The only Filipinos who usually don't hire help are those abroad.

“Listen, I didn't know how to make coffee when I came to the United States. Because in Colombia, the maids do it.” Sofia Vergara

Hiring a Maid is a must..

If you're married, both working and have children who are dependent on you

If you're married and planning a family

If you and your partner are both working and are living in a house that is big

If you are single, working, and living with your parents who are elderly

If you are by yourself, working, and have pets

If you are by yourself, working, and in a big house

The list can go on but in general, if you just have no time for house choirs and don't have readily available hands to help at home, then you need to a hire a maid.

Hiring a maid gives you the freedom to do others things. Things like more work, travel, sports, hobbies, spend time with family, or simply put, live life.

Hiring Maids today

Hiring help is as easy as posting a "looking for a maid" on your social media account or checking google for maid agencies. Old methods were to call friends or relatives in the province for referrals but this still works from time to time. You can already be productive in looking at the comfort of your own couch.

In the end, if you need the extra hand to live life to the fullest, hire a maid. Life is short so you will need all the help to make the most out of it.
